"Rituals are not old, archaic, or tied to just old religions and belief systems. They help us remember who we are and what we do, and keep our belief in ourselves strong." — TJJF

The Power of Rituals: Why They Matter
Rituals, whether simple or elaborate, play an essential role in connecting us to our own spirit, to our lives, and to the universe around us. Many people mistakenly think rituals are only for those who follow particular religious practices or for those with lots of free time to sit and meditate for hours. In truth, rituals are accessible to everyone, and they’re deeply personal practices that help us slow down, reflect, and focus on what truly matters. I love ritual. I can visit a Catholic church and light a candle or a Buddhist temple and say a prayer, it’s up to you how you incorporate ritual.
Rituals don’t need to be religious; they don’t need to be long, complicated, or expensive. They just need to resonate with you and help ground you in the present moment. By integrating these practices into our lives, we nurture ourselves and enhance our ability to show up for ourselves. It’s through rituals that we set the tone for our day, align our energies, and open ourselves to receiving joy, peace, and clarity. If you think about it, we have rituals we do every day. We brush our teeth, make coffee or tea, wash our face or have a shower, all rituals but why not add conscious rituals that help your spiritual essence.
I’ve come to realize that the power of rituals lies not only in the act itself but in the intention behind it. Just as we get used to the motions of daily life, we can build intentional, small rituals that center us. It’s about bringing purpose into the ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary.
Moon Rituals: Harnessing the Full and New Moon Energies
One of my favorite ways to connect with myself and the universe is by honoring the phases of the moon. The moon has been a source of fascination for centuries, often tied to cycles of growth, renewal, and transformation. If you’ve ever felt an intuitive pull toward the moon, you’re not alone. Its gravitational energy affects everything from the tides of the ocean to our own personal rhythms.
Full Moon Rituals: Letting Go and Releasing
The Full Moon represents the peak of energy, the culmination of things. It's the time when things come into full bloom, and also when we can reflect on what we’ve outgrown. It’s an invitation to let go of anything that is holding us back or blocking our path.
During a Full Moon ritual, I will often write down everything I feel ready to release. It could be negative emotions, bad habits, or even limiting beliefs. After writing these down, I safely burn the paper, symbolizing the release of these things from my life. It’s my own way of allowing space for the new.
Here’s a fun twist: moon water. I place a jar of water under the moonlight to absorb its energy, which I later use for cleansing or in rituals throughout the month. This ritual helps me feel connected to the universe and reminds me that everything is in a constant state of change. You can light a candle, pull some tarot and oracle cards, do what works for you. Ritual is not meant to feel like a burden, but rather a comfort.
New Moon Rituals: Setting Intentions and New Beginnings
In contrast, the New Moon is about starting fresh. It’s a time to set intentions for what we want to bring into our lives. The New Moon is less about reflection and more about creation. It’s the perfect time to write down your goals, focus on your desires, and visualize what you want to manifest.
I love to take this time to create a mini vision board, gather my thoughts, and focus on what I want to bring into my life. Whether it's financial freedom, a more vibrant community, or a deeper connection with my loved ones, I use this phase to get clear on what my heart is calling for.
A favorite ritual is lighting a candle to represent the brightness and light I want to bring into the world. I sit quietly, focusing on my intentions, allowing the universe to know what I’m ready to receive. It’s a beautiful way to honor the new beginnings that come with each cycle of the moon.
The Role of Rituals in Personal Transformation
Rituals can serve as powerful catalysts for personal growth. Whether it’s through new moon intentions, affirmation practices, or weekly reflections, rituals create a safe space for transformation to happen. You can use rituals as a way to mark important moments of change, whether that’s healing from the past, manifesting new desires, or celebrating milestones in your life.
Rituals also allow us to take responsibility for our personal journey. They help us integrate the changes we wish to see in ourselves and actively participate in the process of growth. By committing to a ritual that speaks to our deeper selves, we’re constantly evolving, learning, and becoming more aligned with our authentic being.
How Rituals Can Enhance Your Spiritual Connection
For many, rituals hold a deep connection to their spirituality, helping them feel grounded and supported by the universe. Whether it’s lighting candles, chanting, or meditating, rituals help us tune into the energies around us and deepen our connection to something greater. This is where spirituality and ritual intersect, reminding us of our innate power to manifest our desires, honor our worth, and connect with the universe.
Rituals for Manifesting Your Dreams
Another great section to add would be manifestation rituals. You could explore how rituals can be used to support and amplify your manifestation process. For example, using visualization practices, vision boards, or even special manifestation candles during key moments like the full moon can help amplify your intentions.
Manifestation Ritual Ideas:
- Journaling for Clarity: Write out your dreams, goals, and aspirations as if they have already come true. Focus on the feelings these achievements will bring.
- Mirror Rituals: Once a week write on your mirror a saying, inspiration, mantra etc. that inspires it and make an effort to read it every time you look in that mirror.
- Creating a Manifestation Box: Write down your desires and place them in a box to be opened at a later date, visualizing the fulfillment of those desires as you close the box. You could put pictures and little things in the box that remind you of what you are wanting to manifest.
Building Your Own Rituals: Simple Practices to Start Your Day
I firmly believe that rituals should fit your lifestyle and your needs. If you don’t have time for a long ritual, that’s perfectly okay. Rituals can be short, sweet, and effective.
Morning Rituals: Setting the Tone for Your Day
I always start my morning with a simple ritual that centers me for the day ahead. It could be lighting a candle, drinking my favorite tea, or taking a few moments to breathe deeply and connect with my intentions. Setting the tone in the morning helps me stay grounded, even when life gets busy. I like to read the daily inspiration we have in the Joy and Manifestation Club it helps me set the tone for my day. And yes that was a plug and the truth. Please join if you haven’t. We’d love to have you.
Another powerful practice I’ve embraced is sky gazing. I will look out my morning window and gaze at the clouds and the giant spruce tree. I can just let my thoughts meld with the days, It’s like taking a great pause before anything begins. It helps clear my mind and set a clear focus for the day. If I start my day in peace it reflects in how I show up for the rest of my day.
Daily Gratitude Ritual: Finding Joy in the Little Things
I’m not a huge fan of the term “gratitude” as a buzzword, but I do firmly believe in appreciating the moments, the people, and the blessings that make life so sweet. I take a moment or moments throughout each day to appreciate what I have—my health, my family, the beauty around me, and the small wins of the day.
You may want to keep a gratitude journal by your bedside and jot down three things that went well, no matter how small. Whether it’s a quiet moment of peace, a lovely conversation, or even a beautiful sunset, these moments fill you with joy and remind you of the abundant world we live in.
A Ritual for Self-Care: Honor Yourself
Self-care rituals are essential for our overall well-being. These rituals help to slow down the chaos of the world and offer us the chance to focus inward. For me, taking a long bath with essential oils or lighting a candle and simply reflecting on the day allows me to reconnect with myself.
If I’m feeling particularly overwhelmed, I’ll spend a little extra time on something that brings me joy, like reading a chapter of a favorite book, listening to calming music, or taking a walk outside and you better believe that includes hugging a tree, talking to a squirrel and just admiring the way a leaf or flower grow. Whatever you choose, self-care rituals give us permission to slow down and fill ourselves up with positive energy.
Fun and Playful Rituals: Reconnect with Your Inner Child
Rituals don’t have to be serious or formal; they can also be fun and playful. Whether it’s dancing to your favorite song, doing a little chair yoga, or lighting a fun, colorful candle, rituals can be a delightful way to reconnect with the joy of life.
One of my favorite playful rituals is spending time in nature—whether it's a walk in the forest, sitting outside, or watching the clouds drift by. Nature is full of magic, and when we take the time to observe and appreciate it, we open ourselves up to wonder.
Fun Ideas for Rituals:
- Create a Morning Tea Ceremony: Make your morning tea or coffee a ritual. As you prepare it, set an intention for your day. Hold the cup and take a moment to be present with yourself. It’s your magic cauldron ;)
- Crystal Rituals: If you work with crystals, make it a ritual to cleanse your crystals regularly. Charge them under the moonlight or in a special container to renew their energy. You could pick a weekly or daily crystal.
- Dance Rituals: Put on your favorite music and let your body move freely. This isn’t about technique—it’s about the feeling. Allow yourself to be playful and in the moment.
- Vision Board Ritual: Once a month or during the New Moon, spend time creating or updating your vision board. Place it somewhere visible to keep your intentions alive.
- Tarot or Oracle Card Ritual: I like to pick a card or cards for the day to give me a visual picture of how I can tackle my day.
Final Thoughts: Rituals Are Personal
Rituals are deeply personal practices that create meaning, structure, and intention in our lives. They can range from simple, grounding moments to more elaborate ceremonies, and they help us connect to who we are and what we want. The beauty of rituals is that they are flexible—what works for one person might not work for another, and that’s okay.
As you explore new rituals in your own life, remember to keep them aligned with your spirit and energy. Whether it’s lighting a candle before bed or performing a full moon ritual, take the time to honor your needs and desires. Your rituals are a powerful way to cultivate peace, joy, and manifestation in your life.
So, what ritual will you create today? How will you reconnect with your energy and your desires? Start small, be playful, and remember that the most powerful rituals are those that come from the heart.
With love and joy,

RITUALS
I light a candle on my dresser,
And take a deep breath to center,
I close my eyes and try to enter,
A state of calm and mental splendor.
I take a moment to reflect,
On what I want to manifest,
And visualize my goals to perfect,
My mindset, pure and undistressed.
I pick up my journal and pen,
And write down my affirmations,
My gratitude, and hopes again,
And set my intentions with dedication.
I brew a cup of herbal tea,
To soothe my body and my soul,
And sip it slowly, mindfully,
And let my worries and fears go.
I practice yoga and meditation,
To stretch my body and my mind,
And connect with my intuition,
And leave the chaos far behind.
These daily rituals help me grow,
And stay grounded in my truth,
They help me find my inner glow,
And live my life with purpose and youth.
